Jon
SODERSTROM
FOR
MAYOR
Housing
Concession
Initiative
The Housing
Concessions
aim
to make housing
more affordable
along our widest Boulevards,
Avenues
and Streets.
This is my plan
to quickly
address
the need for
affordable
housing
in
San Francisco.
If you want it,
please
vote for me:
Jon Soderstrom,
number 12
on
your your ballot;
Just
make sure
I’m
one
of your first
three choices,
If you
have to vote
for
someone else
first.
My plan
aims
to create
new housing
that is inclusive,
with uniform layouts
and standards,
and centered on people,
and adaptable
for everybody.
Meeting
Different
Housing Needs:
The initiative
understands that
people have different
housing needs.
It plans to improve
the areas
with buildings
that have both homes
and businesses
for different
types of people.
It proposes
mixed-income
housing
with
the same layout
for everyone.
Unit Types
and Features:
The buildings
will have
low-income
apartments
on the first two floors
and mixed-income
apartments above.
All apartments
will have the same
design, layout
and features.
Consistent Design:
The initiative
ensures all units have
the same floor plan,
and the same
high-quality design.
Location Benefits:
Located on land
where the buildings
will be close to wide streets
and public transportation.
Funding:
Funding will come from
both public and private
sources to help pay for
these housing projects.
They use
what is called
a Commission.
Here’s what that is:
Commissions are contracts
where companies agree
to do something because
the government pays them
for it.
Usually,
they only get paid
for part
of what they make,
so they have to make
some profit from the rest.
That’s why Paris
looks the way it does today
—with tons of apartments
that are still pretty swank
to live in,
even 170 years later.
Uniform standards
are
why.
They make sure
all people
get to live somewhere
nice;
sometimes fancier than others,
but the basics
are still pretty dope,
because, hey,
you live in the City,
right?
Aesthetic Design:
The design will focus
on natural light,
green spaces,
and attractive streets.
Affordability and Practicality:
By placing low-income units
for easiest access
and affordability,
and
offering
ready-to-customize
shells
for other units,
the initiative
ensures
both affordability
and practicality.
Conclusion:
The Housing Concession Initiative
offers a
comprehensive
approach
to housing
affordability,
focusing on inclusivity,
sustainability,
and community
well-being.
